Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): A 7-month period when you first become eligible for Medicare. It starts three months before the month you turn 65, includes your birthday month, and ends three months after your birthday month.
Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): From October 15 to December 7 each year, during which you can make changes to your Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D plans.
Changes take effect on January 1 of the following year.
Special Enrollment Period (SEP): Times outside the regular enrollment periods when you can sign up for Medicare, such as after losing employer coverage.General Enrollment Period (GEP):
From January 1 to March 31 each year, for those who missed their IEP. Coverage begins July 1, and late enrollment penalties may apply.
Annual Open Enrollment Period (OEP): Typically runs from November 1 to December 15 each year, during which individuals can enroll in or make changes to their ACA health insurance plans for coverage starting January 1 of the following year.
Special Enrollment Periods (SEP): Outside the Open Enrollment Period, individuals may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period due to life events such as marriage, birth/adoption of a child, loss of other coverage, or relocation.
